For a lot of families, schools are the whole ballgame, and Cabot delivers. The Cabot School District carries an overall A- grade and ranks among the best school districts in Arkansas, with Cabot High School landing in the top five public high schools in the entire Little Rock metro area. The district's graduation rate sits around 91%, and Cabot is the only school district in Arkansas to earn the Arkansas Purple Star School Award, a distinction for districts that go above and beyond supporting military families. With Little Rock Air Force Base just down the road in Jacksonville, that matters to a lot of the families I work with.

Parks and Outdoor Recreation

Cabot takes its parks seriously, and honestly, so does my family. The Cabot Sports Complex is the hub for a lot of it, with ball fields, an aquatic park, and enough open space for everything from a Saturday soccer game to a Fourth of July celebration. Riverfront Park and the Cabot Community Pond are favorites for an evening walk, a picnic, or an hour of fishing off the bank, and Kerr Station Park and Veterans Park Community Center round out the options depending on what you're in the mood for.

We personally love loading up the kids and heading to the local parks here in Cabot, or making the short drive to Burns Park in North Little Rock, for an afternoon of ultimate frisbee, frisbee golf, kayaking, or fishing. If you're willing to drive a little further, Greers Ferry Lake is less than an hour away for lake days, and the Ouachita National Forest isn't much further for serious hiking and camping.

A Downtown That Still Feels Like a Small Town

Cabot's downtown has held onto its small-town character while still finding ways to bring people together. The Railyard hosts a community night market one Friday a month, full of local vendors and live music, and the murals along the Cabot Art Walk give downtown some genuine local color. It's the kind of place where you run into someone you know every time you go, which, depending on how much time you have, is either the best or the most inconvenient part of living here. I'd argue it's the best.

Festivals and Community Events

If you like a good festival, Cabot won't disappoint. The Strawberry Festival takes over downtown every April with a carnival, food trucks, and live entertainment. CabotFest, held every October since 1978, is the town's biggest tradition, born out of the community pulling together after a devastating tornado and now standing as a celebration of everything Cabot has become since. Come December, Celebrate the Season brings the holidays downtown, and every summer, Pops at the Plex turns the Sports Complex into the best seat in town for Fourth of July fireworks.

Close to the City, Far From the Hassle

One of the things people love most once they move here is the balance. Cabot has that small-town feel, good schools, friendly neighbors, festivals on the square, but you're still a short drive from Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Jacksonville for work, shopping, or a night out. You get the quiet without giving up the convenience.
